Welcoming in a new year with a new country is about as good as it gets, I suppose. Admittedly, I have been a little distracted from travel excitement the past few days, but it was nothing boarding a plane this morning couldn't fix. I mean, is there much in this life that is better than watching the sun rise from thousands of feet above the sleeping world?
That right there is better than a thousand cups of coffee, each filled with a double shot of espresso.
So let's chat about the coming days- Belize. You betta Belize it. Gotta see it to Belize it. UnBelizeable. Can't Belize my eyes. Okay, okay, I've got that all out of my system- at least for now.
I'll land in the Caribbean shortly after lunch today while most of you are just getting moving for the day and will be moseying around the tiny country until next Sunday when I'll head back. There have been a few changes in travel companions on this trip due to circumstances and schedules; but my good, good friend Vincent will be joining me in just a few shorts days. He has to put in a little more time being a nurse and saving lives and such before he can just fly around the world. I forget that some people do the whole adulting thing like champs. #lifegoals
I think the first thing on the agenda when I arrive will be kayaking. Maybe? Who knows. Tonight I will be staying in Caye Caulker which is a tiny island off the coast of Belize City and then will head out at some point tomorrow for San Ignacio and Santa Elena which are called the 'twin cities' and are in the western part of the country close to the Guatemala border. Who knows, maybe I will pop into Guatemala for some paches- you never know.
For right now all I need is for everyone to cross fingers and toes that I make it for the last water taxi that runs out to my island and that I don't get hung up at the airport when I get into the country. That would certainly put a damper on the start of vacation.
As we're welcoming a new year I can't help but think about all the exciting things that 2016 holds for me- I'm still trying to wrap my mind around the fact that it's beginning with a trip to my 10th new country. As far as experiences go, it's going to be a wonderful year. I just know it. Sitting here in the Miami airport outside of this Wendy's, half typing and half people watching I am reminded how big this world really is and about how much life there is outside of my everyday routine and interactions. That's an idea that truly inspires and excites me. It truly does. You go, world. Keep being all big and stuff.
Well that's all I really have for you guys right now. Just a waiting game at this point while I'm in the limbo of travel. Keep those ears and eyes ready for some updates in the coming days though as I take a little bit of southern hospitality to the Caribbean. Actually, that's a lie- I'm a terrible southerner and we all know it.
Speaking of travel companions though, Wallace has yet to emerge from his little slumber or what I like to call his coma.
He is here with me though and whenever he decides to pull himself together and face the world, I am certain we will have a blast.
Alright- go and do and be all you fierce persons. All the dreams.

Buongiorno, Amelia!! Buon Natale i Felice anno nuovo!! Now back to English...thank you for blogging about your adventures! Waiting with bated morning breath for your updates! Did she make her water taxi? Did Wallace come out of his coma? Did Vincent save enough lives to earn some fun in the sun? I hope you and everyone who is blessed enough to meet you are having a wonderful adventure! Love to my friend and her good-luck elephant friend!❤️
