It's that time of year again- leaves are jumping ship from their habitat high up in the trees, cooler weather has made itself at home, and yet another year in the history of this crazy, beautiful world is coming to a close. There's only one logical solution to remedy all of these seasonal changes-
Wallace and I must hit the road again.
Oh fine, you guys talked me into it. I guess if you insist, I will fly off to another country and mingle with the locals. This time we are leaving behind the scarves, pea coats and Oxfords and packing up our tanks, sunglasses and straw hats. My fearless followers- we are headed to Belize.
This particular adventure introduces two travel companions the interwebs have yet to encounter via this blog- my two dear, dear friends Jamie and Vincent. They have both been informed that they must sign a waiver pre-departure giving me full creative rights to exploit all embarrassing moments and pictures in this blog for the world to see. I received subtle snickers in return when I broke the news, so I can only conclude that they have plans of their own for publishing my embarrassing moments to the world. Challenge. Accepted.
I've got my eyes on those two.
So, Belize- we're headed down for a little over a week in January, just after the new year. Fret not, we will indeed be ringing in 2016 in all it's glory from the good ol' U-S-of-Alabama. But as soon as the coast is clear, WE'RE OUTTA HERE!
Among our stops are Placencia, Belize City, San Pedro, and San Ignacio- just to name a few. We are in for Mayan ruins, coral reefs, rickety public transit, jaguars, butterflies, zip lining, cave tubing and of course beaches. All. Of. The. Beaches. Heart be still.
After a long fall semester full of more than it's share of emotional ups and downs- a week lounging in and exploring the Caribbean is exactly what this soul of mine needs.
Put your party pants on folks, this is going to be one grand experience. 2016 is set to hold a lot of changes, milestones and adventures- so why not kick it off with a bang by exploring my 10th new country. Flights have been booked, reservations are in the process of being confirmed and zip lining adventures are soon to be scheduled. What's more exciting than that? Yeah, I couldn't come up with anything either. All we do now is wait.
The next few weeks leading up to departure will be extremely busy and scattered as I'm doing some other leisure traveling around the states, so my next post will be from Central America- assuming I do not get detained at the Belize border, lost in Miami or surprise attacked by a jaguar. Fingers and toes crossed everyone.
I wonder if I will inherit an accent like I did upon arriving in Dublin? Guess you'll just have stay tuned in order to find out.
Until our next encounter.
